WHAT:
I’m putting together a prayer chain, where we’ll pray at the top of the hour, every hour, where possible. The goal is to take a moment to pause from our day and not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present our requests to God… (Phil 4:6-7). I understand our day-to-day schedules may conflict, but even just a 1-minute “pause and pray” can ground us in His truth, guard us in His peace, connect us to our Father, and shake up the kingdom of hell. The more people the better— imagine if we had the church across the world on board! It would be amazing, truly!
WHY:
Given the rampant deception from the father of lies who has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel that displays the glory of Christ (2 Cor 4:4), as well as the 2 Thessalonians 2:11 powerful delusion, the unbelievers are the captives who need our prayers. They aren’t going to be praying themselves out of a delusion they believe to be truth. It is our duty to pray for these captives, for the awakening of the deceived to come into the knowledge and revelation of Jesus Christ, that they may know the truth and be set free (Jn 8:32).
HOW:
I believe in the power of prayer because God is able to do more than we can possibly imagine (Eph 3:20) and because all things are possible with Him (Matt 19:26). Since God is truth (Jn 14:6), we must yield our Sword of the Spirit which is the Word of God (Eph 6:17) to sever the chains of bondage brought on by lies and deception. I know God’s Word will not return void (Isa 55:11).
