A NEW THING (Isaiah 43:16-19)
God’s people never forgot how He created “a way in the sea, and a path in the mighty waters” (v. 16) when He led the Hebrews out of Egypt to freedom.
Yet while the exiles in Babylon longed for those good old days (when God worked for His people), God emphasized He was still acting on their behalf.
They needed to refocus on the future rather than on the past.
When you become distracted in your faith, it’s time to refocus.
Whether you’re facing a crushing disappointment, a scary diagnosis, or fear of the future, look for God to do “a new thing.”
Quiet conversation with God will redirect your thoughts and your feelings to Him in whom there is complete security and trust. As a result, your heart and mind will do an about-face.
Thus saith the LORD, which maketh a way in the sea, and a path in the mighty waters; which bringeth forth the chariot and horse, the army and the power; they shall lie down together, they shall not rise: they are extinct, they are quenched as tow. Remember ye not the former things, neither consider the things of old. Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.
